Crazy Quilt Friendship Center

Crazy Quilt Friendship Center is comprised of a Food Pantry & Emergency Assistance program and community summer programs. It serves as a critical resource available for low-income families in the Newcomb area, an Appalachian community near Jellico, Tenn.
The Food Pantry & Emergency Assistance program at Crazy Quilt provides food boxes and assistance with utilities. Recipients are eligible every three months, as resources are available.

Crazy Quilt also provides a summer day camp and a Christmas party for area children from low-income families. The Mountain Arts Program (M.A.P.) provides a creative learning outlet for children ages 5 to 15 to learn about Appalachian storytelling, arts, and crafts. The four-day M.A.P. program includes a nutritious lunch each day and each participant receives needed shoes, clothing, and classroom supplies for the coming school year. Crazy Quilt’s annual Christmas party provides 400-600 area children, ages newborn to 15, with a visit from Santa, a new toy, and a treat bag—often the only Christmas gifts these children will receive.

Established in 1975, the Crazy Quilt Friendship Center relies on private contributions to help meet the needs of its clients. Additional needs include clothing, food, and children’s party donations.
