We have immediate openings at Samaritan Place. Samaritan Place provides a safe shelter and support for low income seniors. Samaritan Place focuses on the core outcomes of increased control, decreased vulnerability, access to resources and an improved support network. Our overarching goal is to help ensure that each guest is able to live in the most independent environment possible that still ensures their safety. Samaritan Place is a 24/7 residential care facility.

The Office of Immigrant Services (OIS) is recognized by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) within the US Department of Justice (DOJ). OIS provides legal representation on immigration matters handled through the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to low income immigrants in East Tennessee. OIS provides representation in the areas of family reunification, naturalization, adjustment of status for refugees and asylees, family petitions, replacement of immigration documents, deferred action, and representation under VAWA.  OIS also carries out a number of outreach and public information events within the community.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide office support functions including word processing, filing, copying, composing a variety of documents, reception, gathering and compiling data, and balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Provide lead and/or back up receptionist support to include greeting visitors in person or by telephone and to connect those with the appropriate staff person or services that will best serve their needs in a friendly, professional manner
  • Assist in drafting forms, printing and copying information for distribution
  • Receive, send, and distribute faxes, emails and telephone calls
  • Provide support for administration staff
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Work effectively despite interruptions, and have attention to detail
  • Use a computer, related software, and other standard office equipment
  • Provide translation of documents and affidavits from English to Spanish and vice versa
  • Participation in outreach events during the week and weekends (if required)

Skills and qualifications:

  • Bilingual – English/Spanish (required)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer literate and experience with MS Office suite of products
  • Efficient time management skills required
